Great Britain made a perfect start to their Fed Cup campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Lisbon.
Katie O'Brien set the team on their way to a whitewash with a straight-sets victory over Ema Burgic.
The 23-year-old did drop her serve in the fifth game of the opening set but soon hit back. She went on to clinch the first set with ease and the second proved to be a procession, with the result sealed on her first match point.
"I think to be honest the match was in my control," O'Brien said afterwards.
"I think it was all about me being solid and making her move and that's what I did really. I served quite well as well which I was pleased with."
Clinical Baltacha
Elena Baltacha had few problems against Sandra Martinovic, crushing the world number 387 6-1 6-1.
The British number one, who reached the third round of the Australian Open, dropped the first game of the second set before winning the next six in a row.
"I think the most important thing was that I got a win," she said. "I think I played really well in patches and in patches not great, I don't think I've actually hit a forehand into the side fence before!"
Baltacha then returned to the court to partner Sarah Borwell in a 6-3 6-2 success in the doubles.
Captain Nigel Sears was pleased with the 3-0 result ahead of tougher tests in the competition against Austria and Belarus.
"I'm very pleased with today," he said. "Even though they were the weakest team, the girls couldn't have done a better job. They were very professional, and pulled off a clean, decisive win.
"The rest of the week is only going to get tougher, but we're up for the challenge."
