Newbury's meeting this afternoon is subject to a 9.30am inspection following an unexpected frost overnight.
Officials at the Berkshire venue are forced to assess conditions after overnight temperatures dipped to minus 4.5C.
Clerk of the course Richard Osgood is, however, confident the meeting will go ahead.
He said: "We're due to go up to 8C and the sun is out already.
"I can't see us having a problem, but I need to have a look - just in case."
